Somatic Experiencing (SE)
Developed by Dr. Peter Levine (author of Waking the Tiger), Somatic Experiencing promotes awareness and release of physical tension that remains in the body in the aftermath of trauma that may take the form of flight, flight or freeze, not fully discharged after the traumatic situation has passed. The result is an acute or chronic dis-regulation of the nervous system, which can affect posture, mood, behavior and inhibited resilience to normal daily situations. A session may be done in a sitting position, lying on a massage table or on a mat on the floor.
Aquatic Integration™ (AI)
Developed by Cameron West, Aquatic Integration is a warm water, holistic therapy rooted in Watsu/Zen Shiatsu, Somatic Experiencing and Neuro-Structural Bodywork. AI bridges eastern and western approaches to healing, and is an effective treatment for conditions of both physical and emotional trauma. The healing properties of water with the practitioner’s support cultivate an atmosphere where the client can access positive resources within, promoting a healthier integrated self.
WATSU® (water shiatsu), developed by Harold Dull, is one of the founding forms of aquatic bodywork. With its lineage in Tantra & Zen Shiatsu, Watsu has proven to be one of the most affective mediums for releasing general tension and stress.
